Facebook negotiates with a key congressional committee for Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg to testify as soon as next month amid topics about the corporation’s market control and its programs of launching a digital currency Libra.
Facebook expects that Sandberg is going to appear at a hearing as soon as late October, but executives are still negotiating the circumstances with the House Financial Services Committee. The audition can take place later this year.
David Marcus faced sharp questions from House and Senate panels about trust issues of the corporation during the audition in July. Sandberg’s expected hearings are going to follow Marcus’ and will discuss Facebook’s market power and Libra regulations.
Facebook announced its attempts to create a digital currency which will lower money transfer charges and payments costs in June. It faced a negative wave from governments and regulators.
Earlier this month during his visit to Washington, CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg promised senators that Libra currency is not going to launch without permission from US regulators.
